Teen Jazz Ensemble
MCMA’s Teen jazz Ensemble takes a group-centered approach and gives students a chance to play jazz -- and its related sub genres -- in a supportive learning environment. We focus on the aspects of playing jazz in a group often not broached in school jazz programs. Students are counseled and encouraged to improvise, sight read, and become exposed to new styles and new modes of creating music. While the Teen Jazz Ensemble is primarily performance based, each week we discuss a new topic in order to constantly challenge and support our students’ needs.
