Hand Percussion Lab, Youngers' & Adult

Youngers' Hand Percussion Lab

Come explore different percussion instruments from around the world! This group is an introduction to playing a variety of hand drums and percussion instruments from various countries and cultures, such as the West African Djembe and conga drum. Students will play as a group in a drum circle setting, incorporating various rhythms, techniques, and instrumentation as it is introduced, as well as improvising. This group will also include the fundamental elements of music theory such as note and rest values, rhythmic notation, and the terms specific to each instrument. Note: Class size is 5-8.

Instructor: Drew Weber

Suggested Ages: 7-11

Prerequisite: Prior experience reading music is recommended, but not required.
