SESSION ONE: The Fundamentals
We will discuss and grow to understand classic examples of songwriters and songwriting, and pull apart what makes them stand the test of time. Additionally, the group will share and workshop their own material.

SESSION TWO: Throw The Rule Book Out and Make It Your Own
Rules are meant to be broken. Many examples of songs and songwriters that we consider to be iconic have often ignored tradition as fortune favors the bold, and in this session, we will learn why being yourself is essential, as well as how to edit your own material AND stand up for your creative choices. We will use existing songs as well as student material in this lab.

SESSION THREE: When is it done?
The last session will see the gang working together to help our fellow students make their song the best possible version of itself that it can be. Some songs need more work than others.  Some songs are perfect the second they’re born.  Here we will put your songs under the microscope and workshop them.  The goal is for everyone in the session to walk out with a composition that they’r proud of, and the skillset to go on to create more.
